I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend and Americans are enjoying the festivities. We had our Canadian celebration on July 1. We had a yummy picnic in the park and went for a hike in the woods. Later we saw fireworks going off everywhere including our parking lot.

I packed sandwiches, butter tart squares and tangerines for the picnic. My sister brought everything for strawberry shortcake and some pita bread with humus spiced up with jalapeño peppers. It was so good and I don’t know why I never thought of adding peppers to my humus before. I have some growing in the garden but they’re not ready yet.

I love this old tune by Grand Funk Railroad and thought the 4th of July was as good an excuse as any to share it with you. We’re an American Band of course. Enjoy.
